Gary Adams was born and raised in Montana and a graduate of Montana State University with a degree in Agronomy. Gary has worked for the USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (or APHIS) Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ). Gary is currently the State Plant Health Director for PPQ for Montana and leads a small staff with offices in Helena and Billings. PPQ’s primary responsibility relates primarily to invasive plant pests and was one of four incident Commanders of an Incident Management Team that responded to new plant pest issues. In addition to non-indigenous plant pests, APHIS is also responsible for native rangeland grasshopper programs. Today, Gary will share some insight on rangeland grasshoppers and the APHIS program.
